Yeah, I would expect this to be fine at this stage - although Nvidia and ATi are still working on their DirectX 10 support.
Hmm, I think I may have misinterpreted something. I have read that before, but I recall reading somewhere that friend matchmaking was a gold feature and that otherwise you couldn't play with friends. They must have been mistaken about that though.

- That is a manufacturer's issue mostly. But there is a workaround patch that someone created for unsigned drivers.

I am aware of the work around. The issue is not just the manufacturer's problem though, because of the extra delay imposed waiting for certification means that rapid driver updates are unlikely - and consider how often Nvidia and Ati produce new drivers. Not to mention a lot of existing devices are unlikely to ever get certified drivers.

- The premium content thing was demanded by the media conglomerates and can be gotten around a number of ways. Proven by hackers as usual with DRM protection. (The Windows Meda format was cracked again just last week.) Bill Gates himself even said that DRM was a burden. But in order to play ball, a compromise had to be met.

Since when do media conglomerates dictate Microsoft's actions (or anyone for that matter)? DRM will never work, but how much do legitimate consumers have to suffer while this lesson is learnt time and time again? I most concerned about how hardware will suffer incorporating cryptography circuits into most every device so that messages can be sent encrypted over the wires within your pc. Wonder how many rendering pipelines Nvidia and Ati have to lose for that. I'm sure the top of the range graphics cards won't bother to do that though.
